Gloria Verret

Gloria Mahalia Gary Verret, 89, a native of Houma, La., and lifelong resident of Terrebonne Parish, died at 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Mrs. Verret earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Leland College and a master’s in education from Southern University. She retired after 37 years in the Terrebonne Parish School system. She also held a master’s and doctorate in cosmetology. She was a member of the Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her sons, Reginal and Darrel Verret; daughters, Gloria and Shemada Verret and Audrey Aldridge; sister, Rose Melancon; in-laws, Raymond Taylor and Helen Verret; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
