Godwin Sampey

Godwin Joseph Sampey, 91, a native of Vacherie, La., and resident of Houma, La., died on Sunday, Au gust 13, 2017.

Mr. Sampey served with the United States Navy during World War II, serving in Okinawa. He served in the Air Force after the war and re-enlisted with the Air Force Reserve in the 1970s. He was known as a great athlete who also had a great sense of humor and personality.

He is survived by his son, Bryan (Paula) Sampey; brother, Nelson Sampey; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
