Suspect arrested after slamming door on woman’s hand. Why? She woke him from his nap
June 15, 2017Mariano Cortez, 91, a native of Theriot, La., and resident of Houma, La., died on Monday, June 5, 2017.
Mr. Cortez served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a parishioner and usher at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus Council No. 1317 and 4th Degree Assembly Knight of Columbus Council Post No. 336. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3700, Houma Rotary Club, Civitan Club and National Funeral Directors Association.
He is survived by wife of 71 years, Irene Duplantis Cortez; son, Mark (Phyllis) Cortez; daughters, Patricia Bergeron, Brenda (Edmund) LeSage and Jana (Michael) O’Brien; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment is at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church Cemetery in Houma.
