January 5, 2018Mary Louise Daigle Besse, 73, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Houma, died surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
Mrs. Besse is survived by her husband of 51 years, William Michael Besse, Sr.; sons, William “Mickey” Besse, Jr. and wife, Yvette, Joseph “Matthew” Besse and wife, Marjorie “Margie”, John “Marty” Besse and fiance’, Ivette Hung, and Shaun “Monte” Besse and wife, Alexandra “Alex”; daughter, Michele Besse Cunningham and husband, Jason; brothers, Wilbur “Joe” Daigle, Jr. and wife, Debra “Debbie”; sister, Ruth Lee and husband, Jack; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary retired from Nicholls State where she taught nursing for 27 years. Many of the nurses who cared for her during her last days still remember her when she taught them as nursing students. Her life revolved around her family. She enjoyed gardening, painting and capturing happy moments with her camera and making everyone feel special in some way. Special thanks to Haydel Memorial Hospice, TGMC and her doctors for taking great care of her.
