Suspect charged in disturbance in Houma
August 31, 2017
Dorothy Rousse
September 1, 2017I’ve been reading Casey’s Corner for many, many years — since he first came back to this area from college and started writing for the Tri-Parish Times, which, of course, later became the Houma Times.
He and I have gone back and forth with one another, point and counter-point on many issues.
He doesn’t know that, nor does he know me. But I don’t always agree with what he says in his pieces, though I love to read them and argue with my husband about his words because they tend to see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues.
But I will say that the column which ran last week finally was something in which I wanted to chime in on.
I think it is sad and quite terrible that our children do not have turf fields to play on. As the 2017 season nears and more and more rain comes from the sky, I cringe at thinking that our children will be asked to compete on substandard fields again this season.
We travel a lot. My husband and I like to see a lot of the best teams in the area.
He is a big fan and I love to travel and be away from home.
Everywhere we go, the fields are turfed.
In St. Charles Parish, Hahnville and Destrehan have turf.
Up in northern Louisiana, it’s also a common practice, as well as in New Orleans.
It’s a safety issue and enough is enough. It’s time our local leaders find a way!
Sincerely, Rosita Brown
