December 13, 2018The Rouses Supermarkets chain will grow in numbers in 2019 – expanding its reach into southern Lafourche Parish.
Rouses has purchased three of the four stores in the Frank’s Supermarket Chain – a decision that was announced on social media this week by Frank’s owner and president, David LeBoeuf.
In the sale, Rouses will take over control of Frank’s Golden Meadow, Larose and Lockport stores.
The Lockport store will close on Dec. 15, but the Golden Meadow and Larose stores will remain open and will transition into Rouses leadership in late-January.
Frank’s will keep ownership of its store in Des Allemands.
Frank’s has been open in Lafourche Parish for 40 years.
“I’m very grateful for my parents who took a chance more than four decades ago to become an independent grocer, and for teaching me the business and instilling the work ethic needed to make it succeed,” LeBoeuf said. “It has been a very gratifying career for me and my family. I’m also thankful for the many family members, employees, customers and vendors who believed in us and were a large part of our success. This has truly been a team effort.”
LeBoeuf said when seeking out a sale, he wanted a business that would have the community in mind – much like he and his family have for the past 40 years.
The former store owner said he believes Rouses will continue that mission and provide high-quality groceries and service to the people in South Lafourche.
“We are happy to sell to another local family,” LeBoeuf said. “Rouses is dedicated to their employees, customers and the neighborhoods they serve. Their model of doing business aligns with ours. I am proud of what we have built over the years and we have total confidence that Rouses will continue to serve these communities well.”
Donny Rouse echoed LeBoeuf’s sentiments, adding that it is Rouses’ mission to provide the best supermarket possible to the people in the area. He
also said he’s eager to welcome the Frank’s employees onto his team.
“We will take great care of these stores and their customers,” Rouse said. “I am excited to welcome Frank’s associates. I know they will appreciate the commitment we make to our team members and the communities we serve.”
Customers of the stare said they hope that Rouse’s sentiment holds true.
Prank’s was highly popular in southern Lafourche Perish – especially since the LeBoeuf family built the two new stores off La. Highway 3235 in Golden Meadow and Larose.
On Sunday at half tune of the Saints game, fans went to the stare to pack up supplies and other household items. Two customers asked said they were sad to see the chain change hands.
The sentiment wasn’t against Rouses, but more in support of the work that the LeBoeuf family done over the years to build the grocery store from the ground-up.
“It’s very sad.” said Emile Guidry. a Larose native. “The LeRoeuf family is from here, lives here and has raised its family here. I know that Rouses are good stares,, but there will never be someone who will low our community like someone who is part of our community. Those people are part of our community. We are Bad to see them turn over their business to someone else and we hope that there are not too many changee because this store is one that we all love, “
Another man, Cat Off native Reid Vedros. said he shops at both Rouses and Franks, but prefers Frank’s because of the “at-home feeling” he always got at the store.
He said he feeds that a little piece of community will be lost in the sale.
“I go both places, Vedros said, while combing through the bakery for same cupcakes for his grandson. ” But the people at Prank’s are good people, has a good business, too. but I petition is good for everyone in The service is terrific. Rouses think that having a little competition is good far everyone in the area.”
Rouse is purchasing Lafourche owned Frank’s a grocery chain that’s been in operation for 40 years.
