Summer is slowly inching closer? As temperatures heat up, it’s important to remember to increase your water intake as well. Water is the best thing to provide year body.

WHY IS DRINKING WATER IMPORTANT?

Our bodies are made up of over 60 percent water and how we hydrate our bodies helps with body temperature and lubrication and cushions our joints and spinal cord.

HOW DOES WATER HELP YOUR BODY?

According to the CDC, water and fluids help keep your temperature normal, lubricate and cushion joints, protect our spinal cord, and other tissues.

WHAT FOOD SOURCES CONTAIN WATER?

Water can be found in high fluid-content finite and vegetables; broths and dairy, in-chiding fat-free milk; tomatoes, strawberries, pickles, cooked squash, apples, carrots and cooked broccoli, yogurt and pears.

WHEN DOES YOUR BODY NEED MORE WATER?

When you have diarrhea or vomiting, high fever, live in hot climates (Louisiana heat!) and experience an increase in physical activity.

HOW CAN WE INCLUDE WATER IN OUR DAILY ACTIVITIES?

Keep water with you at all times, substitute water for sugar-sweetened beverages, drink herbal teas, add fruit such as lern on or limes to water, flavor with herbs such as mint leaves. According to the CDC, “substituting water for one 20-ounce sugar-sweetened beverage will save you about 240 calories.”

If you don’t drink enough water, your body could become dehydrated. Signs of dehydration include dryness of the mouth, headache, feeling dizzy and/or confused, and fatigue. Signs of severe dehydration include not ruining convulsions, rapid breathing, weak pulse and loose skin.
