The High-Five

1. THIBODAUX: Beating Central Lafourche is no easy task this season. The Tigers continue to have elite athletes at all of the skill positions, and continue to be the cream of the crop in local Class 5A football.

2. H.L. BOURGEOIS: The Braves may have clinched a playoff spot in Thursday night’s win over Westgate – the team’s fifth victory of the season. Prior to this season, members of the H.L. Bourgeois senior class hadn’t won five games combined in their entire career. What a turnaround it’s been out in Gray.

3. SOUTH LAFOURCHE: Welcome to Class 4A, South Lafourche. The Tarpons destroyed Morgan City on Friday – a game that wasn’t even as close as the lopsided, 32-point margin would indicate. With Vandebilt next on the schedule, we’ll see if the Tarpons can earn a second-straight win.

4. CENTRAL LAFOURCHE: After a dominant start to the season, the Trojans have now lost two-of-three games. That would be OK if not for Central Lafourche now being thrust against the powers in 5A, including Destrehan and Hahnville.

5. E.D. WHITE: The Cardinals got another last-second win on Saturday against Thomas Jefferson. The real test for E.D. White will come on Friday against Patterson. If they win that game, we’ll shoot them up near the top of this list.
