October 21, 2015We face real challenges to representative democracy
October 21, 20151. THIBODAUX: The Tigers keep rocking and rolling toward the Class 5A State Playoffs. After an 0-2 start, Thibodaux is now playing its best football of the season. The Tigers need to stay on a roll, because they close the season with St. Augustine, Hahnville and Destrehan.
2. SOUTH LAFOURCHE: The Tarpons played very sluggishly for a half against Vandebilt, falling behind 31-18 after two quarters against the motivated Terriers. But a two-touchdown, 14-0 second-half rally powered South Lafourche to 2-0 in district play against a very motivated Vandebilt squad.
3. CENTRAL LAFOURCHE: The Trojans lost to Destrehan on Friday night. Who cares? Just about every other team in Louisiana would do the same. That Central Lafourche could keep the Wildcats to just 31 points is something worth noting. When the schedule softens, the Trojans will get back into the win column.
4. H.L. BOURGEOIS: The Braves drop a few spots after getting bullied by Thibodaux on Friday night. But with five wins already in the bag, H.L. Bourgeois is still in a great spot to reach the Class 5A Playoffs.
5. CCA: It’s not been an easy year for CCA. The Lions have battled all sorts of injuries and adversity. But CCA is hitting its stride at the right time and is in prime position to make a run at the District Championship, which would mean an automatic bid into the playoffs.
