Local hoops showdown moved up 24 hours

The big-time girls’ basketball matchup between Ellender and South Lafourche has been moved up 24 hours because of Mardi Gras.

The game was originally scheduled to be played on Mardi Gras Day, but school officials agreed to push up the game to Lundi Gras.

The game will be a triple-header, featuring a junior varsity game, as well as girls’ and boys’ varsity action. The first tip will be at 5 p.m.

In the girls’ game, the District 7-4A champion may be crowned, as both the Lady Patriots and Lady Tarpons are among the best teams in Louisiana.

In the first game between the rivals, Ellender won 63-61 in a thriller.
