The Houma-Bayou Cane-Thi-bodaux MSA has been named 18th among small cities in America by the 2014 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index.
The study ranks areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth with components including job, wage and salary and technology growth.
The Houma-Bayou Cane-Thibodaux MSA ranked 41st in 2013 and is the highest-ranking Louisiana MSA in the small-city rankings.
LA 1 in Leeville closes Saturday
A portion of La. Highway 1 in Leeville will intermittently close Saturday.
The closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. directly north of the Leeville Bridge toll plaza while Entergy Transmission erects electrical conductor wires between two electrical poles on each side of the toll plaza on the Leeville Bridge.
TPSB elects new officers
The Terrebonne Parish School Board has elected a new president and vice president to serve.
District 1 School Board member Roosevelt Thomas has supplanted District 7 representative Roger Dale DeHart as president.
Additionally, District 5 School Board member Brenda Leroux Babin has supplanted District 3 representative Richard Jackson as vice president.
Both were elected by 5-4 votes as new member Vicki Bonvillain cast the deciding vote.
