LA Creel, LDWF's near real-time landings data collection program, indicates that 657,996 pounds, or 70.4% percent, of Louisiana’s 2024 annual private recreational allocation of 934,587 pounds have been harvested during the 2024 Red Snapper season.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) are teaming up to present two Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops this fall. The workshops are open to women over the age of 18 who are looking to become knowledgeable and confident anglers.

The populations of BBWDs have grown exponentially in the last two decades throughout the southeast US. Not only are their populations expanding into residential and metropolitan areas, but they are also creating agricultural losses for rice farmers in southwest Louisiana.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will conduct two youth waterfowl lottery hunts, 30 marsh waterfowl lottery hunts, and 30 rice field waterfowl lottery hunts on White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area this fall.
