November 1, 2024The Bayou Regional Arts Council is thrilled to announce their new Notes for Kids program, dedicated to providing band instruments to children who might not have the opportunity to join a band otherwise.
“With our proceeds from last years Bayou Arts Council, we provided art supplies for three local schools– this year, we decided to donate musical instruments to local students,” said Genie Ardoin with the Bayou Regional Arts Council. “Music education is a vital part of personal growth and creativity, and we believe every child deserves access to it. We are really excited about this program.”
The Bayou Regional Arts Council has already dedicated $25,000 of proceeds from the 2024 Bayou Arts Festival to pilot the program, which will begin in local schools in early 2025.
The Notes for Kids journey began this past week with the donation of instruments to students in the Beyond the Bell program in Lafourche Parish, an enrichment program for local at-risk youth.
“We were honored to start the Notes for Kids program by presenting some of their students with the instruments they need,” continued Ardoin. “With your support, we aim to expand this initiative, bringing the joy of music to even more kids in our community.”
The Bayou Regional Arts Council would like to thank Dusenbery Music for their generous support for our program. If you’re interested in supporting this program or learning more about how you can help, please visit the Bayou Regional Arts Council on Facebook.
