Looking to give back to the community this holiday season? With less the weather cooling down and less than two months until Christmas, several community organizations are hosting drives for those in need.
Here are some local drives running through November and December in Terrebonne Parish:
Coat and Blanket Drive – The whole month of November, The Firm Foundation of Houma is hosting a Coat and Blanket Drive to help guests of the Homeless Day Center stay warm this winter. Drop off your gently used adult coats and blankets at 440 Magnolia Drive!
Give Thanks For Your Safe Home – The Haven is hosting a collection drive for The Haven’s domestic violence shelter, Margaret’s Home, from the beginning of November to the end of December. Items can be purchased directly off their Amazon wishlist.
Help to Deck the Halls – The Start Corporation and Firm Foundation of Houma are collecting gently used, non-breakable Christmas decor to help bring holiday spirit to the Homeless Day Center. Some needed decor includes an artificial lighted tree, non-breakable ornaments, stockings, and working lights. Drop Off Your Socks – Do you know socks are one of the most needed and least donated clothing items? Just putting on warm socks can make a big difference in the winter! The Firm Foundation of Houma, Terrebonne Parish Library, and the Haven are partnering together this November to collect NEW socks for those in need. Drop off your NEW socks at any of the Terrebonne Parish Public Libraries through the month of November.
Shoe Drive – The Terrebonne High School Beta and Tigerettes are asking community members to donate gently used shoes of all sizes to help our homeless population from now until November 21. Bring your shoes to room 109, 210, or 501 at Terrebonne High School to help out!
CASA of Terrebonne Christmas Toy Drive -From November 4-December 6, 2024, community members are invited to spread holiday cheer and give back to those less fortunate by participating in the CASA of Terrebonne Christmas Toy Drive. Just bring a new toy to one of the many drop off locations around the parish, and help make one of the 80 children benefiting from the toy drive have an extra special holiday season.
