Robert J. Champagne Sr., 88, a native of Lockport, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, April 2, at 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Jeanne Guidry Champagne; sons, Robert J. Champagne Jr. and wife, Charlet, of Sunset, La., and Thomas P. Champagne and wife, Deborah, of Houma; grandchildren, Angelica C. Masden and husband, Kevin, Robert Scott Champagne and wife, Kathy, Alethia C. Moore, Monique Champagne and Sarah Champagne; great-grandchildren, Emilienne Masden, Lindsey and Hunter Champagne and Brandon and Megan Moore; step-grandsons, Justin, Jordan and Janson Bourque; brothers, Hubert Champagne, the Rev. Rene Champagne C.P., John Champagne, Patrick Champagne and Richard Champagne; and sisters, Vivian C. Dolan, Marie C. Bergeron, Sister Marguerite Champagne and Helen C. Gautreaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emilienne Richard Champagne; and sisters, Lucille C. LeBlanc and Rita C. Creswell.
He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church and Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post No. 3665 and the American Legion in Lockport.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, with burial at the church cemetery.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
